Broadcasting

ESTUARY BROADCASTING is a new volunteer-led internet radio station based between Margate and Herne Bay in Westgate on Sea. Being internet based the station can be heard worldwide but for the time being we are concentrating on the East Kent area with a varied programme of music and news.

We do not intend to broadcast 24 hours a day, rather to start small with two days a week from 9am to 7pm. Further details of our programmes can be found on the programme page.

We would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to join our small team of presenters, all programmes at present are pre-recorded but we are hoping to find an office to set up a small studio so we can produce live programmes as well as recorded. If you are interested please send us an email via the Contact page on this website and we will get back to you.

WESTGATE ON SEA was once 'Mayfair by the Sea' but is now just a pleasant seaside town with many fine buildings and a small but comprehnsive shopping area. The town is well served by public transport with a direct rail link to London Victoria and London St Pancras, and regular bus services to Canterbury and Margate.

The jewel in Wesgate's crown has always been the fine sandy beaches of West Bay and St Mildreds Bay and promenades with views out across the Thames Estuary and stunning sunsets.

Adjoining the western boudary of Westgate is the town of BIRCHINGTON where the long high street offers a great variety of shops and eateries, together with access to the popular beach at Minnis Bay. Further on you will come to the ancient ruins at Reculver, famous as one of the testing places for Barnes Wallis's bouncing bomb, and then to HERNE BAY with it's fine seafront and pier. To the east of Westgate is WESTBROOK with its long clifftop walk stretching from St Mildred's Bay all the way to Margate.
